My mouth brims with tepid water

and my eyes burn with rock salt;

burgeoning halogen, electron hormones

lilting in effervescent stews, outstretched

hands subliming with relief at the

alkali coldness. Adolescent fingers

curling, leafy branches gazing

toward the stratosphere, the lone

halogen with skyline dreams.
