She is not prepared for today,
she does not want to see his mother,
his father,
his sister, his brother,
grieving their loved one,
her loved one

Who always had a smile,
who made the best out of life,
who gave her a single flower,
the day before the crash,
the day before everything,
the day before nothing was left.

She bends down,
and takes in her last moment,
the last time she was with him,
when he gave her the flower,
it's still fresh,
just like her wounds,
but soon it will die too
then what?

The time has come to leave,
but she carries him with her,
she still feels him,
she still smells him,
and as she takes in one last breath,
she still loves him.

When I first thought of this poem, I was looking at a black and white picture of what seemed like a damaged woman, smelling a flower. I wish I still had the picture, for this is one of my proudest pieces. I hope you enjoy it with me.
