Cracked hands knit together
A warm beating heart
In the cold breath of December

My sleeves are thick leather
We walk to the Mini Mart
Cracked hands knit together

In each of your eyes a warm ember
Like in the eyes of those who tore me apart
In the cold breath of December

So many things to remember
My thin purple skin, just a flimsy rampart
Cracked hands knit together

Fresh winter sunshine a pale gleaming treasure
But heavy wool clothes hold my wanting limbs taut
In the cold breath of December

Open wounds, still fleshy and tender
Once again, I restart
Cracked hands knit together
In the cold breath of December
