Through the front door.
It's raining outside again.
Why is it always raining outside?
Does it ever rain inside,
In the home of someone
So privileged?

At the trees.
The bus windows are dirty again.
Stained with the smudges
Of children's fingers.
If I drove, I would
Keep my windows clean.
But Mom says it's
Too dangerous.

At a boy.
He grew out his beard again.
I should compliment his look,
But I don't know him.
Just his face. And his voice.
He probably doesn't know my name,
Or he would mispronounce it,
Like everyone else.

At the computer.
College websites are mazes.
I could buy a house
For the cost of education.
But maybe $40,000 a year
Is a cheap enough price
To buy freedom.
