I'm Stronger

The tears slide down my cheeks silently.
Not profoundly, but unremarkably.
I reread the messages, and try to convince myself they don’t exist
But they do
I hurl my phone at the wall
Its nighttime
Dark and cool and comforting
beyond my window the flashing lights of a plane float by
I wish I were on that plane
flying away from here
but I’m not.
I’m stronger than my desire to run away
