Another night.
Another fight.

We’re yelling.
This time not at those who
try to tear us apart,
but at each other.

We’re screaming,
trying to be heard.

Neither of us really listens anymore.
We just go through the motions,
not taking time to step back and
admire what we have

You were once my Romeo,
and I your Juliet.

But now all we are,
are two people.
A couple who used to be one.

We had been perfect.
All of our friends thought so.
I guess now, since we have no reason to
fight for each other,
we fight with each other.

You promised we wouldn’t
turn out like my parents.
But everyday, I notice things.
Things that they had done,
that we do.

If there was one thing I learned
from Mom’s mistakes, it was to
never back down.

Although,
That’s what I’ve done,
isn’t it?

I backed down and gave up.
On us.
On happiness.
On eternity.
And why?

Well I don’t really know.

Nobody knows why love fades,
it just does.
It’s a force you can’t seem to stop.

Love is a cruel emotion.
It takes you as high as you can go,
then it drops you and watches you
plummet.

The only thing there is to catch you
is either
depression or hate.

Unless you’re lucky,
than death will be there with its arms open,
it’s cold breeze a place of comfort

But I’m not ready just yet.
I’m not letting go of your love
Of us
Of happiness
Of eternity

So I stop yelling
I stop screaming and hurting you.
Instead I take you in my arms and apologize.
