"What is it like in your funny little heads? It must be so boring." -Sherlock Holmes, A Study in Pink

They said we had "chemistry",
But what does that mean?
Their words, a declaration
Of our compatibility,
Only served to raise more
Questions than it answered for me.
Are we like the couple in the movies?
Destined to be together,
But only after a long struggle
Involving guns and maybe some death?
I don't want us to be like that.
I'd rather be literal chemistry,
Two compatible atoms who serve only
To better one another with their presence.
Our relationship, I would hope,
Is covalent rather than ionic.
Because covalent is sharing,
And I don't want you to take
More of my heart from me.
Rather, I'll share it all with you until
The day you finally steal it from me.
