I thought about how she was like the earth.
Her thoughts and ideas waves,

Crashing over each other,
Each one better than the next.

Her smile was like the rain,
And her laugh like the sunrise.

Her eyes were raging thunderstorms,
Dangerous and yet comforting.

Her touch was like the first snow,
Exciting and new.
Something I knew I couldn’t screw up.

She danced like flowers in the wind,
And she spoke in four-leaf clovers.

Her tears were the night stars,
Her kiss a crackling fire.

And I miss her.

I miss her like a fish on dry land,
Or a tree that has lost all its leaves.

I hope she still feels like the earth,
Even though she left me feeling like the moon.

This past summer I took a writing class in which we had only 10 minutes to write each piece. Our prompt was to write with as many similes and metaphors as we could. This is what I (frantically) came up with.
