Letter to a Dead Guy This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

Dear dearly departed,
I have no idea who you are
I mean, I know what you did
You're obviously important
We covered you in school
How you made a world changing invention
And discovered that thing
While living in what's that place?
And working with so and so
Heck, you're so important you got a whole page in our textbook
The Vice President only got a paragraph
And he's the leader if the big guy dies
So, why did we learn about you?
I don't need to know your name or when you lived
Your thingamabob works fine without your life story
Why am I even writing to you?
You're six feet under
Why would you care what I think?
What is the point of history anyways?
It certainly doesn't impart any life skills
Unless I join a game show that is
This assignment is pointless
My letter to a dead guy
No offense, you are kinda dead
Unless you're a zombie
Then history would be really cool
So, any advice to me, from beyond the grave?
I have to go now
Another essay to write and book to read
Good bye Mr. Corpse, have a nice death,
A bored student
