my mother once told me depression was hereditary
so I cut myself open to bleed black
hoping the molecules that I inherited would spew out of me
like my black vomit

once I aspired to be daddy’s little girl
but I couldn’t stop my body from growing,
my skin from stretching
nor my bones and teeth from yellowing

I am sorry that I have aged so grotesquely
