Astronomical Fox

To begin, the fox dashes, nimble

and quiet, sly ballerina.

Her eyes are dark moon rocks,

skirting celestial oceans in

the body of the solar system,

lithe and graceful and unfathomable.

Deep space, static against the

pumping fox’s blood, a sluggish

worm before the blinding sun - the fox

speaks in light years and coos

in the warm, milky darkness of

stars, heavy and shrouded.

Astronomical fox, plump tomato skin

curling above roiling musculature,

your blue-violet footsteps leave chalky

echoes on vibrant planet tongues,

leaving those in her wake pale

and dim in comparison.
