"We accept the love we think we deserve."

~ Perks of Being a Wallflower

An expression used by
many
to show that you are
safe,
that you can't be
touched.
Usually used in a
game of
tag
or hide-n-seek
once a player reaches
'base'.
But once we've
grown up,
this phrase becomes
rarer
and
rarer.
But can it apply to
Time?
If you were to yell,
"Oli-Oli-Oxen-Free"
at Time,
could it no longer
touch you
while you were
safe
on
base?
Could you simply
stay
on base for as
long
as you wanted,
while Time just sat there and
waited
for you?
Would you stay
forever young?
Or would it be
unfair
to taunt
Time
as you waved your
arm
over the side?
Or could you tell
Time
"Oli-Oli-Oxen-Free"
to your
memories
while your body
went with him?

I wrote this right before graduation, I had a realization of how time had slipped through my fingers like sand.
