I used to search for ghosts amidst the living sea
I used to be afraid of disbelief in what could be

But then one day
I met a girl so fair
with hazel eyes and auburn hair
a tragic smile, a face aware
a voice like blues
that chills the air
As she spoke, the flora grew
stars appeared like morning dew
Her real name, I never knew
nor did I care, but did I croon
For her skin was Sol
and mind the Moon
Insects fled before her stride,
baffled, grappled, the myth contrived
They marveled;
Can royal brood persist alone?
Alas, a lonely queen survived--
had thrived!
What glory to the great unknown
creations built upon things untold
Perhaps she'd crippled what was known as fate
Surely, gods had not allowed
the stunning, savvy spate,
that's her
The girl that no man can mistake
with only her can I relate
She left me but a storm of flesh
Passionate ashes in her wake
I was stoned and dry
She kissed my cheek
She said goodbye
"A tryst," she explained
"with unconditional guys"
and still I tried and tried
It was only in her absence
did I realize the truth:
When the stars lament,
swoon in the aborted sky
When the plants alight
in an ultraviolet, violent shine
When all men share the guilt
of our societies awry
When I can quell my deep desires
and still the sands of time
When the world we love and hate
speaks its final word and dies,
will I finally have my taste
my noble heart
my mystic, moonlight bride

I no longer seek the ghosts of the abysmal, dying sea
I dream of her through endless nights,
believing all she sees

"Before I built a wall I'd ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offense.
Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That wants it down."

-Robert Frost, "Mending Wall"
