Here I am
Shiny, reflective.
I witness tears and coy smiles
sighs and squeezes.
Your faults are laid before me,
an impassive middleman.
I am your mirror.

Everyday your vanity
draws you to me,
Everyday your self-loathing
draws you away.
But I play a sick game.

You can’t stay away from me.
I am you.
I am whoever fills me.
I am your unfulfilled hopes
of beauty and acceptance.

I witness your attempts to fulfill those hopes.
See you smear powder and cream on your face.
See the despair in your eyes as they do not work.
I scrutinize, and scar, and scare
and see
everything.

This is based of a writing prompt I received, one which asked to write something from the point of view of an every day object.
