King Cobra

I’m the king cobra
In your heart,
Poisoning it with my venom.
Your heartbeat tick-tocks away,
The timer to your swift demise.

My fangs form a gruesome grin
As I tighten my coils around your arteries,
My champagne-colored eyes staring
Into your mesmerized chocolate ones.

Do you feel the blood loss yet?
It seeps away from your extremities
With every squeeze of my body
As happiness once did from my reptile mind,
Long ago...

Was it the Triassic or the Jurassic period?
A dinosaur age separates me
From the time I used to feel.

Joy oozed out of my life
Like the toxins now
Oozing into your circulatory system.

Have fun trying to survive!
