"I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best."
-Marilyn Monroe

You take my hand
I am timid
But you show me the way
One step, two steps
Clap, clap, clap

We dance and we dance
And one step turns to ten
The night has been soft
Like an everlasting dream
One step, two steps
Clap, clap, clap

We smile
Your arms around me
And me in your arms
Your eyes twinkle
Like stars as we dance
One step, two steps
Clap, clap, clap

It kills me to know
That this dance will
Come to an end
This dance
I love it
One step, two steps
Clap, clap, clap

This night
Is a dreamy night
Beautiful, indeed
Your hand on my waist
And mine on your shoulder
We smile
Dancing in the moonlight
One step, two steps
Clap, clap, clap

We dance until
Fox trot has turned to Tango has turned to Cha Cha
Until moon has turned to sun
Until stars have turned to clouds
Until our eyes lock
And our lips meet

We do one last
One step, two steps
Clap, clap, clap

My beautiful dream
Turned to reality
Has ended
My soft eyed prince
Has left me
We can surely say
We danced
The night away

The author's comments:
In this poem I tried to incorporate lots of imagery and make it sound sort of dreamy. I tried to make the "dance" be a metaphor for the two lovers' relationship. It started out magically and ended. I hope you will like it!
