Hello, Darkness.
It's been a while
since I've felt the linger of your chilling skin,
seen the evil in your sneering smile.

"Hello, Darkness,"
I screamed as I fell into his depths.
I heard his tempting voice
and followed shyly in his steps.

The musky air silenced my heavy breathing
as the light began to dim.
Darkness grabbed me by the hand and pulled me close to him.

He led me down the narrow hall,
His arms wrapped tightly around my soul.
His thinning fingers grabbed my heart
and gave it a loving pull.

"Don't be scared," He whispered softly,
His hot breath on my skin,
"You're safe down here.
There's no need to go back home again."

"Who would miss you when you're gone ?
Nobody. You know it's true.
You said it repeatedly to yourself,
none of them really love you.

I looked up shyly,
my eyed drenched in tears.
His loving touch wiped them away
and with them went my fears.

I realized what he said was true,
He had no reason to lie.
I'm a dreamer under the dark sky
but even the darkness can't mask the pain I feel inside.

"What do I have to do?"
I whimpered softly to him.
My legs began to quiver
as Darkness flashed a knowing grin.

Darkness grabbed my shivering hand
and held it strongly in his,
"There's only one way to prove you devotion,
I think you know what that is."

He handed me a loaded gun
giving my hand a gentle squeeze.
I pressed it softly to my head,
taking a moment to feel the chilling breeze.

With a single shot, the world went dark.
A single tear hitting the ground.
As I felt my soul starting to fade,
I lifted my head to take a final look around.

At the end of the hallway,
I could see a tiny light.
Darkness smiled down at me,
His dark eyes burning bright.

As my eyes started to close,
the tears burning from the light,
the brightness became blinding.,
rays of sunshine burning bright.

The end was near,
I could tell it was close.
Darkness grabbed my hand
and gave it a loving stroke.

"I'm so proud of you,"
He whispered in my ear.
"Now you can stay here forever,
you'll be safe with me down here."

I looked up once more,
my soul weakened and sad.
I couldn't believe who I saw before me,
the shadowy figures of my mom and dad.

"We're so sorry, Dear.
We just couldn't understand.
You'll always be our little girl."
They came in close and took me by the hand.

Darkness looked down upon me,
and frowned at the smile upon my face.
He shove my parents out of reach and screamed
"It's too late now! You're here to stay!"

I realized what I had done
and I knew it was too late.
I began to scream loudly
as my parents began to fade.

Darkness dragged me down the hall,
my vision going black.
I cried a final tear and whimpered softly,
"I wish I could go back."
