"Daddy don't leave! Daddy come back!
I forgive you for every beating, for every smack.
Daddy don't leave me. Daddy don't leave.
You have caused me pain, and now I grieve."

"Daddy don't leave me! Daddy don't go!
I said I forgive you even though
It burned when you lit me, it hurt with your smack.
But daddy don't leave me! Daddy come back!"

"You must have yelled at me because you cared, and every scream!
I'm sure there is a silver light, a beckoning gleam!
Daddy! Daddy! Why did you walk away?!
Maybe you didn't hear me when I asked you to stay?"

"Daddy I know you didn't mean it! Where are you my father?
Every time you hit me was it because I was a bother?
I know you didn't mean to throw mommy against the wall.
Daddy! Daddy! Why did you push me to make me fall?!"

"Daddy! Daddy! I'm talking to you!
You're leaving now? Well what did I do?!
Daddy! Daddy! That's a mean word to say!
But Daddy! Daddy! Don't go away!"

"Daddy! Daddy! You're treating me bad!
The way you scream and hit, it makes me so sad!
You say God is with you, well daddy I know!
But daddy! Oh daddy! Why did you go?"

"Daddy, Daddy. I won't take this pain.
I'm sixteen now; I broke off the chain.
The ones you held me constricted when I was so small.
Daddy, oh Daddy I'm not going to fall."

"Daddy, oh daddy. This is goodbye.
There will be no days when I will sit down and cry!
Daddy oh daddy! I'm a big girl in this big world!
Daddy. Daddy!!!! I am not your baby girl."

This poem transitions from the time I was 6-7 to the time now when I am 16. He hurt me, abused me and my family, and then left and is now trying to hurt us more. Well this is my goodbye... to the dad I never knew... to the dad I never truly had.
