Good For Nothing Lowlifes

We welcome you as our guest
For you to come and teach us about success
But if walking up on that stage and telling your audience how rude and disrespectful they are
Before you give them a chance
Is what you call success-
I don’t want success.

If bragging about what you have and how you came to have it
Is what you call success-
I don’t want it.

If wearing boring clothes that lack a personality
Is what you call success-
I don’t want it.

If being just like everyone else that frowns upon originality
Is what you call success-
I do not want it.

You yell at us to straighten up,
To stop goofing around
To be a spitting image of you.
You do not know us.

We may dress like trash
Punch holes in our bodies
Paint ourselves with tattoos of crosses and devils
But we may be the most respectful and polite people you will ever meet.
You no longer deserve that respect.

You jumped on the conclusion that if we act up,
We’re good for nothing lowlifes.
That if we dress in a wholly jean kind of fashion,
We’re good for nothing lowlifes.
That if we flip burgers at a small burger joint to make money to get by,
We’re good for nothing lowlifes.

You will not break us.
You will not turn us to clones.
You will not drag us down to your level with your crude judgments and accusations.
We good for nothing lowlifes will succeed.
