Mom always said that sharing was caring:
It seems that I cared too much and you shared to liberally.

So I shared.
I shared all these half-formed aspirations and sprawling poems,
shot these kisses right under your skin
and tickled your laughter because I knew you’d stay.

So you shared.
You shared all these awful habits and poisoned dreams,
pumped these diseases into my bloodstream
and threw me a bone to make me stay.

But I left.
I left all these half-formed habits and poisoned poems,
pumped your kisses out of my bloodstream,
and threw your laughter away because I knew I couldn't stay.

But you?
I never knew what happened to your awful aspirations and sprawling dreams,
If you still shot diseases under your skin
to tickle your bones because you only knew how to stay.

You always said it was give and take:
It seems that I gave too much and you took too little.
