Homesick

I know what he meant now
at first it seemed impossible
to leave a place you had only known for a short while
and miss it every day
It’s not that you miss
the warm air
the never-ending floral aroma
or how everyone there treated you like royalty
You miss it because like it or not
you have chosen this place
in all of its perfection as home
You do not simply miss being in paradise
you are overcome with homesickness
