MIDNIGHT SUN

I waited at the table,
For two hours and five days.
The clock ticked every second,
Making it longer than usual.
He didn't come and my coffee
Turned into black ice which melted
Soon enough.
I savoured in the wind
But it disappeared.
The rain washed away
All the colours in the paintings.
And yet he didn't come.
I kept waiting.
Three hours and fifteen days
Walked past me
And I was a slacker,
Trying to keep pace.
He didn't.
So I was about to leave
Until he ran into me.
Asked me to meet him
When the midnight sun comes out.
I went there again.
He didn't come.
Ergo, I watched for four hours and twenty days,
The midnight sun.
