The Beauty Within Her

The black smears down her face
and circles like bruises line her eyes.
The scars that forever hold their place,
and the pain that lingers as she cries.
Ugly she is called,
for her pain she is teased.
To hearts frozen but never thawed,
her tears leave them pleased.
But little do they know,
true beauty lies within.
When her lights start to show,
the cold of heart will learn then.
A goddess beneath the shadow,
now shows her golden light..
and the ones who have been so shallow,
are banished into the night.
