Human Trafficking
She’s scared and restless
Too afraid to sleep, too afraid to eat
She wants to run from this life before she’s in too deep
But where will her next meal come from?
What’s best for her family? such a tragedy
All she needs is a place to rest her head and dream
But that's not possible when her life is controlled by everyone else,
What about herself?
All she wants to do is scream
They say it’ll get better, but does it really?
Been living this life since she was thirteen
Way too young to have seen what she had seen
Been ten years and everything’s the same
But there’s no way she can lose this game
To give up and die? Or to live and survive? These are her only choices
And so she says “It’s time to take the reins and regain what is mine!”
But she knows she walks a fine-line.
Every single day of her life she is reminded
With the help of outsiders she can be free
After all these outsiders are the ones who made her see
That she is better than a slave who gave up her life so that her family could eat
She is strong and that's how she made it all along
Soon she will be gone and done with this so called life of hers
Her new found friends will take her away and she will stay
Because then and only then can she rest her head and lay
Quietly dream not of what she had seen but of a greater life.
The American Dream.
