Walls
Over time, walls deteriorate.
Even the ones I built,
And painted bright, beautiful colors
Their paint falls off,
And they begin to fade to gray
Their bricks begin to crumble,
And the wall falls down--
Once I thought those walls were beautiful.
They kept me safe from the demons
Of the big world,
Of my dark world.
They protected me from the ghosts of my past,
From being haunted by my mistakes.--
Now, my walls fall down.
And my safe haven is no more.
And now I am forced to face my fears.
