When I was in kindergarten
I went to the playground at recess.
I went on the swings,
And then on the slides,
And I saw there a first grade girl.
She smiled and said
“Do you want to play?”
“Yes I do.” I said.
We played together that day,
But we did not exchange names.
I saw her the next day,
And then the next,
Yet we never talked ever since.


And now,
Seven years later,
I still remember her,
But she doesn’t me,
I’ve found out her name,
I still see her at school,
And I still remember that day.
It was so long ago,
And so unreal,
I sometimes think it’s a dream.
If I’d walk up to her locker right now,
She would never know me,
So why do I still remember?
