7 seas of misery

Our shipwrecked souls
left the ports
of the lost and unknown
at sundown
so we could meet
halfway past the reefs
and next to the cemeteries
filled with those who once despised
the idea of love
and though the tides
tore us to pieces
we held our heads high
as bullets flew
and remain tongue tied
so that we could spew
the smoke of misery weighed onto us
and we blew,
and we blew
till our sunken sails came back to life
and the truth of our end
became a lie
and we met
halfway past the reefs
so that our eyes could have a glance
just a single sight
of our hands tangled close
and the relief of knowing
everything will be alright
