I see you staring at me. You know the stare, the one that says, “What is wrong with her?”

Judgmental, rude, curious, unkind.

From the blink of your wondering eyes, it feels like needles have risen from my chair making me shift and shiver.

I check my hair for imperfections, my make-up, my clothes.

It seems like an eternity has pasted and I am just waiting for you to look away.

You finally do and I can breathe again.

My eyes wonder across the room. I stop and stare at you. I wonder why my eyes are glued to you.

My stare says, “You are mysterious and I want to know more.”

Admiring, respectful, curious, soft.

I stare at your hair, your soothing face, your lovely presences.

I never knew time could stop like this but in reality it has only been two minutes.

Your discomfort is made apparent to me, so I look away.
