Breaking Free

I want to open my wings
Slip away from this dark rule
Like a zipper that needs fixing
I open, and want to move
Break, rip apart these black veils
No more crying;
I am now strong
I expect you lying
My fortress is finally built
I'm not afraid of yesterday
You are not holding me back
They are urging me forward
Pillars of vine and stone
I am free now
I have come to decide
That my vines suppress your iron
And that my thoughts and ideals
Cannot be bound by fire
Only until they've turned to ashes
Glow, my roses, we'll never be apart
I may move, and look at other gardens
But yours will never surpass thine art
