When you see a train
Do you ponder what it would be like?
Fresh air on your face
The world passing you by
My dream of dreams
No worries but tomorrow’s forecast
However…
Would rolling out of that car mean
Confining my family?
Sending the life behind me into turmoil wondering
How did we let her slip away?
I ponder this as I watch out the window
My hand on the lock
Pulling up
Pushing down
Pushing down more than just the lock but
Also the idea that anything so great could result in anything beside
A train crash

I wrote this piece to accompany a picture I captured that I titled, "Runaway Train." As a drove by this train I thought about the feelings that many teens get at some point in their life where they feel running away from life would be better than living the life they have.
