In that moment,
when your best friend turns
to you, confused, lights
shooting towards her
In that moment,
when the impact of the
red pickup truck you did not see
rattles your bones and
smashes through you like bombs
In that moment,
when you’re crying and loving and hurting
and dying
In that moment, you finally know that
you’re not invincible.
Sitting there, pressed between
air bags like praying hands
you wish to be
anything but human.
