.. Like Honey and Cough Syrup
cough syrup;
trails thick and serene,
dark and desolate,
sickly and sweet.
honey;
flows slow and golden,
catching sunlight sought from darkness.
Feelings so sweet and slow
they falter and thrash about,
shattering all among.
Glass shards flattering and fragile as they are,
catch glimpses of the notes that flow thick and sweet like cough syrup
and honey.
Control slipping from grasp
letting lose
and trailing from my pores
as honey and cough syrup drip from my fingers.
Eyelids shutter
and close out the light..
leaving the sickly sweetness of love to pour through and drip down;
like honey and cough syrup.
