“A thousand moments that I had just taken for granted- mostly because I had assumed that there would be a thousand more.”

There once was a girl
Who drowned the whole world
It started off small
With little thunder storm puddles

The puddles accumulated forming lakes and rivers
Which soon spilt over into the vast oceans

Her puddles were filled with red
The red that ran from her wrists
As a result of neglect and shame
That she was so unfortunate as to receive

Everyday she cried, for she could not stop
And as she drowned the whole world
She drowned herself too.

This piece means an awful lot to me. As someone who has struggled with self-harm, poetry has always been a way to release my bottled-up feelings.
