The more control you have over yourself, the less control others have over you.

Atop this mountain, neither star nor moon will shine
but from up here I see the miserable city aglow with lovely lights.
I look behind a pine tree and I am not sure of what I see
right there in the darkness, a lonesome figure gleams.
Is this the drowning voice that was sent to guide me?
Or is this a figure to make me reminisce my misery?
My hands go numb and my stomach doubles up
because now I hear it, the howling of a large wolf pup.
If you’re here to test my will, I’ll tell you that I’m weak.
If you’re here to take my soul, I’ll tell you that it’s free.
You can invite all the red ribbon foxes and grizzlies
because I no longer posses dignity.. I’ll go ahead and get on my knees.
You stand so still as you expand your wide jaw
and while I wait for the torture I hear the crows caw.
I came here searching for a place to rest my bones,
but now I am only afraid of the unknown.
I hear the quick steps of a fox and bear approaching,
my mind quickly wants to stop working.
I’ve lived a life with no witness, what a lonely business.
No one to ever rise with, no one that I can die with.
You’re evidence that I’ve lived life such a fail,
once you’ve killed me just let my skeleton lay frail.
My body feels the heat of the setting sun
and now I am thinking that I ought to run.
You all are wolves and I am the sheep
your eyes are starting to quietly taunt me.
I look to you for saving but you’ll only save yourselves,
then with the utmost sincerity you cut me free from the ropes of hell.

Love the imagery in this, and you give a nice background for your character. "Atop this mountain, neither star nor moon will shine
but from up here I see the miserable city aglow with lovely lights." Great line to pull me into this great poem.

This is such a great poem! I see what you were saying, about how our poems seems almost interconnected!! Great job, it's so fluid in its text and seems so dark! I love it so much!

As a nature lover I love this poem and feel the darkness envelope me like smoke -- but in a good way. I wonder if that makes sound depressedd... but none the less I like it

This poem has a very dark theme to it. I personally really enjoyed every aspect of it! My favorite lines were,"I’ve lived a life with no witness, what a lonely business. No one to ever rise with, no one that I can die with. " this is overall amazing flow, great rhyme, strong diction, just everything a great poem needs! You are very talented!

Wow. I know a poem is great when I keep re-reading it and discovering new intracacies within it. This is seriously an awesome poem.  It certainly has an edge to it- a sort of darkness - that's really interesting.  I could be completely off, but it sounds to me like it's about suicide - the narrator feels worthless throughout the piece and then there's the "cut me free from the ropes of hell."  But again, I could be totally off - which is why I love this poem!  I feel like so many different meaning could be extracted from it - it's really brilliant.  Great work, Lexus!

I really like this. Like Mckay said, it's very dark. I also like how it didn't rhyme straight away. Well done.

I like the new darkness vibe in this poem. Very dark. But I love it. You'll never disappoint will you? not that I want you to. ^u^ I love hte imagery you painted. Everything about it is good.

Ok first off, you are such a wonderful poet! All the poems that i've read from you are wonderful and glorious! This one has to be your best work. It's relatable, it's vivid, it has a dark meaning as well. You never fail to produce such a fine work! Great job and happy poetry writing!

Lexus this is great! I tried to post three comments before this, so if they show up later, I am sorry. Right now, it’s not working. So basically, I LOVE THIS SOOOOOO MUCH! You are a genius who can really capture the spirit and spark of a horror movie, I mean, the words and phrases, not to mention the picture paired with this, were so vivid I was watching it like a movie inside my head!!!! Great job, really. Okay, next part. Some people might say that this is a literal wolf and sheep fight, but I think that it could symbolize many things, and I am a real sucker for symbolisms and show and tell. Great job. I think that this could symbolize bullying. Like the wolf-pack are the bullies and the sheep is the victim. So vivid, and I love how it tells a story. You could make a pretty sick video out of this, like for one of those bullying campaigns. Is that pushing it? Nah, you deserve the praise <3 Okay, next part, I promise that we are almost done, just one more thing: my favorite line. When you/ they say “is this the drowning voice that was sent to save me?” my heart literally stopped (and I kinda memorized it), and though I wasn’t even near the end, I still was like, copy/paste into memory, this is my favorite line. And as like you say, it was faultless and priceless. Perfect. Okay, that’s all for now. <3 Keep rockin and writing Lexus

Okay, my first comment got deleted and it really pissed me off, cuz I spent like 10 minutes writing that thing! Okay, to get to your FRIKIN AMAZING POEM!!!! I loved it soo much Lexus. I loved how the words and the imagery were like set in like a horror ovie setting, and I was actually getting scared as I was reading it, because it was that vivid of a movie inside my mind!!! Great, great job. You know though, it dosen't just symbolize that a wolf is hunting sheep. To me it can symbolize bullying. Like the pack of bullies (cuz there is never just one) targeting the victim. The "wolf" and "sheep" are just like actors for the main roles. I mean, you could insert anything in there, if you get what I am saying. What I mean, since I am not really amking sence, is that not only can this be about bullying, but maybe self esteem, like the wolf and sheep are part of you and you are fighting with yourself.... i don't know. Just a thought, but as you can tell, this poem/story really makes you think. If i didnt say this before, I was watching it as  was reading like a movie in my mind. Thats hard t accomplis, and you pulled it off pretty freaking well :) No, I am not done yet, but hey you deserve the praise! Okay, the title: GENIUS!!! If i had never seen your work before, I would have picked this one because the title is so damn good!!! Okay, almost done, don't worry. I just have to tell you my favoritte line and then we will end with my signature ;) okay,, so my favorite line is: "is this the drowning voice that was sent to guide me?" Okay, sooooo creepy.. but genius! any way, great job and........keep rockin Lexus!!!

Wow Lexus, this is deep, on so many levels. Amazing. Just Wow. My favorite line is "Is this the drowning voice that was sent to guide me?" because I just thought that it was so clear the fear in this persons voice. This is one of those peices that tells a story, it was like a movie was playing inside my head. Brilliant job Lexus, and I am not just saying that. Oh, and the title: LOVE IT!!! Great title. If I had gone to your page for the first time, I wold have picked this piece because the title is striking. Beautiful blend of rhyming and the like sharp aspects of the hillside and the wolves. I love how the rhyming softens it in a way, and then you have this like horror movie scene with this "wolf" and "sheep" In a way, I can percieve this as like bullying because the person is questioning whats going on, and when kids bully other kids, they usually do it in packs (I would know). So anyway, I just wanted to say hi (since it litterally has been forever since we talked), and I wanted to tell you that this peice is he bomb.com Love, Love, Love it! Amazing job Lexus (not that I was expecting otherwise) Keep rockin and writing <3
