"As the tide washed in, the Dutch Tulip Man faced the Ocean:
'Conjoiner rejoinder poisoner concealer revelator. Look at it, rising up and rising down, taking everything with it.'

'What’s that?' Anna asked.

'Water,' the Dutchman said. 'Well, and time.'"
-Peter Van Houten, An Imperial Affliction

The inherent flaws of the moon are,
That it is a temptation and a sorrow.
It hangs in the sky, glassy, suspended in peace,
And yet spurs men to conflict and to dreams.

The inherent flaws of the sun are,
That it is bright, and that it is plain.
The sun which simply lights our days,
And our nights, our moon,
And stains them red, and stains them blue,
And tugs on hearts, and burns, and grows,
Cannot be understood.

The inherent flaws of myself are,
That I am glassy, and I am simply plain.
That I am always myself,
And the moon, and the sun
And that, suspended in peace,
I can at once be stained red and blue,
And spur myself to conflict,
And grow
And dream.
