The Injustice of the Ohio Rape Case

They sympathize with the rapists
With thoughts of “bright futures ahead”
They claim it’s the victims fault
for a fault left unsaid

Her clothes were provocative
She was drunk, allegedly, they say
Her skirt too short, her makeup too bright
“asking for it”, people remark

No words for the victim who suffered the crime
Misogyny and rape-culture and its prime
Four boys ruined this poor girl’s life

Maybe someday the world will change
and treat their reactions with the
shame they deserve
And these reactions will be a thing of the past
But for now we live in a place where the victim is silenced and unheard
While the reporters and rapists,
get the last
word
