Where The Street Pianos Play

Down red cobblestone streets
a tune whistles up
from the curb
a melody meant for
the dearly departed
of this dusty, heartsick
earth.

A song spun for tears that
splashed noiselessly onto
sidewalks, and a tribute
for the street pianos
that sweep music up to
history.

It is then that all the
ghostly people who roam
the corridors of my heart
come out and cry:
"Remember us, Remember us
Never forget us
Your love once given
can never be taken away."
Down where the street
pianos play.
Yeah, where the street
pianos play.
