Waiting for the moment thunder strikes my eardrums,
Alarming my adrenaline,
Quickening the thumps in my heart,

slowly,

I fear the day the thunder comes,
and then the day the silence comes,
When I’m left alone in the dark,
The days I will be afraid and vulnerable.
