Floating Melody

Let the music rumble in my head
Like drums at a football game
See wind dancing with the leaves
and make my own path on the sidewalk.
Hands thankful for warmth of pockets,
my hair flows with the breeze.
And I don’t need a sound system, a boom box
to play under some stranger’s window sill,
but I have this melody, just stuck in my head
Ready to share to anyone who cares
Anyone who will listen with welcoming eyes
and an open heart.
I will share this song,
but one thing I regret
is not singing it to myself,
even if no one else can hear.

The author's comments:
This poem does two things. It (1) describes the feeling of having a song or melody stuck in my head, singing it over and over, and even humming it without knowing and (2) contrasts my interaction with others to the way I view myself.
