I met him
-just the once -
But then I let him get away from me,
I let the sleeve of his jacket slip through my numbed fingers,
As I stared out
Into the night.

I should have been staring at him.

I wrote this after watching Doctor Who Series 4, because of Donna's first appearance in the show, and how she regretted how it ended. And how it might have ended. And how it did end.
