The cave fish swim
Round and round
Going nowhere
Blind in the dark

Most have no eyes
But one fish sees
Sees the blackness
Feels the hopelessness

The fish with eyes
Wants something more
He tries to explain
The others cannot understand

So he leaves the pool
Completely alone
With no direction
No illumination

He kept swimming
Ever onward
Away from his school
Towards the light

He could not see it
But he knew
It was out there
Somewhere

The glassy water
Began to ripple
The tug of a current
He swam faster

The river pulled
The fish pushed
Together they ran
A white circle appeared

The water plunged
Through the cave mouth
Tumbling
Sparkling

The fish fell
Ecstatic
Into the sun
His eyes at last
To see the truth

The author's comments:
Inspired by the book Siddhartha (Hermann Hess) and the short story "What Do Fish Have to Do with Anything?" Satyam is a Hindu term for divine truth (not being a Hindu, I admit I may be using the word in an abnormal context). The poem is about how people blunder through life blindly, except for that one person who thinks to look for something more.

Write. It doesn't matter if you're overjoyed, furious, miserable, or what. Write to keep those emotions in check while managing to grow stronger.

Let me start by saying that I am in no way an expert of any sort on poetry. However, I do know enough that I can tell that your poem has a really nice flow/rhythm and that none of it is random or choppy. I also thoroughly enjoy the symbolism of the school of fish with the one who chooses to leave the group. Overall, I felt it was a very well-written poem. Great job :)
