If you're absent during my struggle. Don't expect to be present during my success.

Purple lips encased by her pale,
cold body broken and petite.
I heard her cry one last
scream of defeat.
Her vacant blue eyes
like a sea of ice.
But awaken, she arose,
she is still alive.
Her heart so lost,
she thought herself dead.
Not being able to stop the weight
I will forever dread.

I wrote the poem in the waiting room at the hospital when my sister was crushed by a ton of drywall. I just remember seeing her after we pulled her out from underneath the drywall. She looked so destroyed.

To love is to be vulnerable; Triumph is born out of struggle; We notice shadows most when they stand alone in the midst of overwhelming light.

Powerful and great. Keep on and I hope your sister is alright now. Thank you! ^_^
