Breathe

Trap it there in my chest.
Unable to let go.
Until finally,
I release it.
Slowly, gently,
Almost reluctantly.
Has change-
Has difference-
Become so difficult
And so hard for me,
That even
The thought
Of different air
In my lungs
Has become bothersome?
I try to accept change,
I try not to worry.
Not about anything.
Carefree
Was once the word
Best used
To describe, me.
And yet-
I’ll find myself
Taking the air hostage again.
And I realize
I’ve forgotten how to breathe.
