Cold Metal

I feel the pressure on my mouth,
The aches slowly kicking in as they pull and tug.
My head flinging around as well,
My teeth feeling as though they are going to jump off my gums.
The cold, silver metal on my teeth make me shiver,
The high pitched squeal of the gadget makes me quiver.
All I can do is look up and count the small dots on the bland, white ceiling.
The spinning rotation of her wand as it takes away the glue and green brackets.
The cold taste of plastic hovering over my face.
Taste buds overwhelmed with iron and rubber.
As I try not to swallow or move, frozen in the moment.
Clenching the cold, teal chair that no longer had a relaxed feeling.
The smell of glue and plastic take over my senses,
And all I can think about is hoping it will all be over soon.
I see the cold metal coming out of my mouth.
Her enormous hands finally allowing me to breathe.
The pointy, hard metal that caused so much misery,

Finally coming off after three years.

I hope those who have had braces can relate to the experience that I went through. I was inspired to write this because it was a very memorable moment in my life.

Yay! Someone else who was stuck with braces for longer than a few months! This poem really expresses the feeling of relief and slight pain when you finally get your braces off, and I really like it.

Wow, I've never had braces before but my teeth are slightly crooked (and I once wondered if I should). But this description sounds terribly realistic :P and is so very well-written that I've decided never to wear them!! (yay?!) Anyway, I enjoyed the article.
