The city was all bright lights

floating
Lights

disembodied

far
off

in

the

distance

She looked at them from her window,
counting each one

Each one representing a different
dream she dreamt of, that would come true

when she reached the city, with its
lights

In her bed by the window
No matter how cold, how wet, how hot, how foggy

Each night she looked

out her window. At the city
getting closer

At the lights from the city
floating

in
the

distance

Counting them like they were dreams

Before she went to bed. Wrapping her blankets around her

….........................................................................................................

One day

The last night

She looks out her window

And the lights from

the city

The

far

off

city

slowly blinked
and f - l - i - c - k - e - r - e - d

and went out

Her dreams

they

f - l - i - c - k - e - r - e - d

and went out

She went to her bed

for the last time
wrapping her arms around herself

And as she went to sleep

for the last time

She thought:
It’s a pity

It’s a pity.

It’s. a. pity.

The. city. was. never. close. enough.
