How to disappear This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

Bury all your books in the backyard under the frozen water,
wrap your favorite ones in your nightdress,
set your blanket on fire,
know that the house will never smell of
you again

Examine the floorboards,
wipe off your scuff marks
wash the dishes again and again,
again and again
repeat until they smell of bleach and regret
No one will ever know you lived here

Run to a foreign land,
somewhere with a different dialect
choose a country with disinterested inhabitants,
no one will ask you for a made-up past
when you convince yourself to stay,

wow, this was certainly a very striking poem - it gives one an exhilirating sense of freedom and running away, yet it's also somehow ... sad.
