She is Just

Just a little girl, eight years old,
has to watch her daddy
stubblin' through the door.
Her poor ears ringing with the sound;
Her mama's screaming he's gets around.
Just a little girl eight years old
wakes up alone at home and leaves
the roaches, mice and spiders behind
condemned to return to an empty home,
and not till dinner, is she alone no more.
Just a little girl eight years old
already knows too much of this world.
Innocence already forgotten
and desperation long too bold.
She's just a little girl eight years old.
