Words Kill

You may not realize it,
but every word that escapes your mouth,
seeping with venom,
poised to attack your weak, harmless victims,
affect those around you.
They could remember one sharp stab of pain,
from your words alone,
until they are lifted up to God:
One strike could lead them to him arms,
mush too soon.
You never know when someone will be pushed too far,
over the edge,
falling into the dark,
not stopping until they create a hungry black cloud,
a weeping mother,
grandparents wondering why their little girl hasn't answered her phone,
an entire string of victims maimed,
from one comment you made about the weird girl who sits alone.

You thought she didn't hear you?
Think again.
