She tries so hard
to forget her past
and look straight ahead
to her future
but the monsters in her dreams
and the ghosts of earlier times
haunt her every step
and remind her constantly.

how can she move on?
how can she forget,
when endless tokens
of a life she left behind
follow her every move
creep into her every thought
and taint all hopes of peace?
