Worlds Apart
In a city park a woman sits alone
huddled in dirty layers on a cold park bench
The sky’s ugly face gazes down
Wind shrieks and branches fight, twisting and tangling
Water escapes from teary sky, and stomps on tired land
like an army of angry men
Unleashing hatred onto helpless hands and arms and feet
And buildings high above cast shadows down
Across the park a girl plays
Skipping rope with a friend
The sky above is purple deep and bold
The clouds are swollen mysterious exciting
Rain leaps down with joy
Onto darkened branches that smile, shine, and reach with long beautiful limbs that open to the sky
And in the distance bright buildings shoot upward
